I have a an ASUS M2N SLI Deluxe and I use on the on board sound. I am also using the latest drivers with all of the Windows XP Sp2 updates. Here is my problem;
My mic volume when using Ventrilo or MSN suddenly starts peaking when I start a call and this is without my even talking, I opened the Soundmax control panel and the equalizer bar was peaking into the red. From the recipients end its just a mass of distortion. I have also noticed an icon appearing in the system tray of a black phone and when I hover my mouse of it, it says "Close Speaker Phone Companion". The only way to exit this process is to terminate the Sound max process in task manager.
I have exhausted all avenues. I have even reinstalled XP and it still does it. Is anyone able to help me I'm desperate to get this resolved!
