Hey guys,

On the verge of ending my life due to this problem.

Microphone from headset stopped working one day, tried it in my laptop and the same thing happpened so put it down to the headset, happy days.

Bought a new headset and it came today, but still have the same problem on my PC, and even after formatting, the problem still persists.

In sound options under recording devices, it can see that a microphone is being plugged in (Or unplugged). Nothing is muted, all levels are up, changed every setting possible but nothing will work. When using sound recorder, nothing gets recorded, just a quiet hissing noise :(

Had my motherboard given up?

Dan

It is selected as the default/recording device in the recording devices list?

EDIT: An while obvious just incase I take it your not missing a mic mute switch on the headset itself somewhere? some headsets have the feature of auto muting the mic if the boom is rotated into certain "idle" positions i.e. the Sennheiser PC3xx range.
