Microphone really quiet

Hey guys, sorry if i posted this in the wrong place didnt know where to put it.

I;ve been having trouble lately with my Siberia V2 microphone being extremely quiet in recording audio for fraps or other things like audacity, if i boost the microphone by 10% it helps but it just alwys seem very quiet

I have been in the process of buying a Blue Snowball but dont know how much of a difference ti wold make

Is there any suggestions anyone can make to improve the mic quality, i've done all the usual by setting volumes up.

Yea i've been doing a similar process, but it is odd because if it urn mic boost off even in Audacity it barely picks up my voice and i could have the microphone in my mouth.

With mic boost 1 it sounds good unless im not speaking loudly. But everyone says they can hear my fine on skype perfectly. However a friend of mine recorded a game a couple of days ago and i sounded of poor low quality (But i assumed that was cause i was messinga round with the default format which i've changed back and sounds better now)
 
Funnily enough, I was having the same problem with audacity yesterday. It was working find through other programs.

I made a bunch of changes, and I cannot remember how I fixed it. I remember changing the balance and using the alternate sound system software.

I have the exact same, on anything I use skype / ts / vent etc I'm clear and loud as needed however when recording straight with Fraps my voice is very quiet compared to everyone else.

Is it normal to have some form of mic boost?

I have a sound card, and i dont think my mic is in teh sound card, there are a few different recording ones, one has just a tab to enable mic boost, noslider. The one i have it attached to has a slider in it.

DO you mind if i added yo uon something like skype/steam to show you a few things? id also like to hear your blue yeti and listen to the quality cause i'll be getting something similar soon
 
I'm getting the same thing at the moment, I have microphone boost turned on (no adjustment as using a Xonar D2X sound card).

I put my issue down to having a poor headset (Kave's) so will probably upgrade and see if that helps.
