I was recently bought a microsoft entertainment 7000 keyboard and mouse set. (the mouse is the 8000). I'm having problems with the smoothness of the mouse. The only way i can think to describe it is imagine a laser mouse only works on white surfaces and not on black... well when i watch the cursor on the screen it looks like i'm moving around on a chess board (only with smaller squares). Its not too noticeable in windows, not enough for me to warrant using another mouse, but when i'm using photoshop, editing fine detail is almost impossible. Another place it fails is playing games like Counter Strike Source. It looks like i've got really bad lag. None of these problems happened with a crappy wired mouse i used to test if it was anything other than the new one.

I used 'mouse rate checker' and for the 8000 i'm getting between 280 and 340 Hz and with the wired its 124

I've installed the bundled software and looked through everything I can to find a way to smooth it out but i can't see any options.

Does anyone have any ideas on how to fix this problem? Maybe it's a mechanical fault?

Mike.

I'm not using one but i have tried it on different surfaces and i've also tried changing where i have the blue tooth dongle (distances from the mouse) to see if that affected it in any way but nothings worked.

Cheers for the input.

I'm using it on a piece of white card. The desk is matt white. I've tried it on everything in the house... Black tshirts seem to work best :P

Piece of white card is a big no no.
It is all over too similar for the mouse to work out where it has been in regards to where it was and move the cursor accordingly.

Can you try it on a piece of newspaper for a bit and let us know how you get on please?

Newspaper is just as bad as everything else.. Tried on different types too
