Hi

I was taking a closer look at my Facebook settings and came across an app from Microsoft which I can't recall how it got there. It's been there for quite some time but today I thought I'd do a bit more digging to see if I could understand why / what put it there.

When I check my Microsoft account there is no connected accounts from other services such as Facebook.

The only thing I can think of is when I installed Windows 8 that I may have connected the 'People' or 'Messaging' Windows 8 Metro apps to Facebook. These Metro apps were since uninstalled as I did some app pruning when I set up Windows on my desktop and didn't see the point in keeping some of the Metro apps.

Just wondering if anyone here connected the 'People' and / or 'Messaging' Metro apps to Facebook and whether they have a Microsoft app in Facebook?

The Microsoft app id is 30713015083, I found this in my Facebook Activity Log under 'All Apps' in the left column and hovering over the Microsoft app where the id is shown in the status bar at the bottom of the browser (Chrome).

The reason I'm curious is that this Microsoft app has quite a lot of permissions. I'm also curious as to how one could request Microsoft to delete the data it's app has collected as Facebook state on the app that deleting an app doesn't delete the collected data.

Looks like it is Microsoft's Facebook app that connects Windows to Facebook, so you can see what's happening on FB and post to it through Windows.. so you probably did set it up when you installed Windows 8. Google has a link for Microsoft Personal Data Dashboard, but it errors for me.

Edit - try https://data.choice.microsoft.com/

Hi Monkehhh, do you have W8 set up like that with the Microsoft app in Facebook? I couldn't find anything when I Googled for it earlier, just my feeling that the connection would have occurred when I installed W8.

Unfortunately that Microsoft Personal Data Dashboard doesn't mention any connection to Facebook. It would appear to be the right place for it though so goodness knows where that collected data goes.
