last night I was watching a movie on my PS5 and got a email from Microsoft about 9.30 regarding unusual activity on the account.

I looked into it and yes, a login on my primary account from RUSSIA !! so as prompted I immediately changed password and authentication etc..

I only use my account for W11 these days as I no longer have subscriptions or my Series X XBOX..

so I was thinking of terminating the account. I have already setup one specifically for W11 with a new email address on G Mail.

Is there anyway I can install W11 without the hassle of HAVING NO CHOICE for logging into the Microsoft account on a fresh install of windows, which is what im going to do!

On an clean install when you get to the part where it asks to use a Microsoft account press Shift + F10 (Brings up a command prompt window) and type the following

start ms-cxh:localonly

This will bring up a box to setup a local account

I downloaded the latest ISO from Microsoft yesterday and setup a VM with Windows 11 and the above worked fine

Awesome mate, thank you very much.

If I don’t put in a password will it automatically go straight to the desktop when I power on the machine?

As standard even for local only accounts or still wants the naff security question at install time. And pretty sure you cannot use no password.

However, you can bet it to auto login by changing some registry entries. Or using the tools in guides like this:

@ED209 thanks again, took me two seconds to do, and as a bonus when I rebooted it went straight into windows, no authentication or such. saves me doing that as well!

I can't remember details off the top of my head but you can get a successful sign in for a sync event or something where they don't actually have your password / details or have actually accessed your account.

Mate, in the future, just make a bootable USB installer with Rufus using the official ISO downloaded from M$, when you goto start the process it'll bring up a menu with tickboxes for things like Account name, TPM/SecureBoot bypass, along with offline account, removing ram and hardware requirements and others :)
You won't see this till you click 'Start' though, so don't panic if you can't see the settings straight away ;)
