Morning all,

Has anyone done the above course and got a job afterwards using the certificate awarded?

I'm at that stage in life where I want to change career and do something different job wise, so I did this and passed. But I'm struggling to find anything remotely connected with it.

Anyone got any ideas that can point me in the right direction???

Thanks!

This is just demonstrating that you have some basic computer skills right?

While those skills are a necessary requirement for plenty of jobs it’s not something that’s generally going to land you a job by itself.

I mean what sort of job were you looking to do? What do you currently do?

Thanks for the replies.

Yeah I know this was a basic course, but I thought that at the end I would be able to somehow use what I learnt.

At the moment I work in warehouse, loading/unloading lorries etc. It's easy but not demanding on the brain cells, and although I know my way around a pc (inside and out) I'd like to get into IT, that's why I did the ECDL.

I thought I would ask on here and see if anyone else has done it and somehow progressed.

Well you can, I mean presumably you learned something and found it useful?

Why not build on it - look at doing some IT qualifications.

Comptia A+

It isn’t a course per se but an exam/certificate you can study for by self study or via courses provided by various training providers.

AFAIK just using the free materials or buying a book is more than sufficient.

Thanks Dowie, I'll look through that.

Cheers guys :)

IT as a whole is a very large industry and there are wildly different areas and jobs. Have a think about what area of IT you want to get into and that should help with finding courses.
