Hello all, im currently 17 years old 18 in october and my contract as an apprentice it technician expires in September i am wondering what Microsoft exams would it be worth taking, my future goal is to become a systems admin i am very technical minded and high ability love building pcs

so my question to you all is how do i become a systems admin and what exams do you recommend me taking

NOTE MICROSOFT EXAMS ONLY

easy question if you just want to stick with microsoft exams (which is fine)

Start with your client exam, 70-680 i think, then build it up with more modules. Check this page - http://www.microsoft.com/learning/en/us/certification/mcitp.aspx#tab2

You might want to aim for MCITP: Enterprise Administrator on Windows Server 2008 which is what i'm upgrading my MCSE to

If you enjoy building computers then i think you'll enjoy active directory etc. THink about what modules you want to do, I enjoyed Exchange 2007 for example.

Work out your route, buy some books and build a virtual lab :)

I've been thinking about this recently... I've been in 2nd Line/Desktop Support for years now but I'd like to move into a Systems Admin/3rd Line role. The problem is that I'm not able to get any exposure or experience at my current place due to that side of things being based miles away.

So, can I learn enough to make the step up from exams? Which are best to go for? (I don't have any MS Certs at the mo).

Any Ideas how to make the jump from Apprentice It Technician into the job world been denied roll out jobs as i haven't got employment history even though i done a roll out where i work now :(
