I am trying to login as one of our ex-employees and when I open Outlook when logged into Citrix as him it says "microsoft exchange is unavailable"

No other users on the same server are getting this error message. His account is fine, not disabled or anything and still has his old email address

What do you think the problem could be?

did you check his outlook profile is setup correctly for his account ?

if he is an ex employees then check that he still has a mailbox. check the exchange tabs (email addresses tab) on his account on AD and see if they still show x400 and other addresses.

He has the default profile but when I select properties or any other settings I get the same message with retry, cancel and work offline

He still has a mailbox. He has the X400 address and all smtp addresses as usual.

Under exchange general the mailbox store and alias are both correct too

retry, cancel and work offline...

connect using outlook web access IF that works, you will need to remove his OST file by going into account settings->more->advanced tab->offline folder settings. disable offline file use and restart outlook. Go back in to the same place and recreate it and if need to be turn on cache exchange mode.

Are right. Ive never used OWA where i currently work. I dont even think its been setup in exchange. Sorted it now, I started in offline mode. It was still looking at our old exchange server for some reason, it just needed changing.

Chances are that the employee left a while ago, before the change of exchange

Thanks for the help all

I'm guessing there's a DNS alias been set up - that's how exchange behaves if you do that

Not too sure what a DNS alias is but we also recently build a new DC and setup DC2 on a virtual machine (we will be scrapping old DC2 soon or turning it into another test VM)
