My dad uses a VPN Client to connect to his works intranet and long story short he cant use his login details anymore so he asked me to remove his Exchange Server from his laptop, I took it off but now he cannot get any of the emails he had already received even when I put the settings for the server back on.

I still have to .ost files which I presume are his emails but I cant restore them, is there a way to get these emails back? they're like 700mb so they must be somethin.

any advice will be appreciated.

You can use OST2PST if it's pre Outlook 2003. Otherwise it's gonna cost you afaik.

Can't he just redownload them next time he goes into the office?

I assume the company doesn't have RPC over HTTP or OWA set up.

cheers for the advice, it definitely isnt post outlook 2003 so think that file converter should work. givin it a go now, seems to have got stuck though, is there anythin else I can do should this not work?

thanks

that program didnt work, kept gettin to start of step 2 of 4 and claimin internal error. Is there anythin else I can do? Tryin that on a better computer? will that make any difference?

Not much really. Like i said, if the company has RPC over HTTP you can set up his outlook to use that, or he can use OWA to check his email, or lastly he can go into the office.

I dont think he can log back ontohis email because they've changed the conpany and shuffled everythin round, he cant really takwe his laptop in either cos they'll take it off him for still havin it. That leaces me with OWA but I dont know what that is.

Is that simple to do and doesnt involve connectin to his work? Is there not a programme I could pay for to get it to do it? like a more powerful version of that programme that works pre-Outlook 2003?

No, OWA is Outlook Web Access, so would mean connecting to his company.

Google for PST to OST converters and you'll find a few progs that claim to work

I've tried for a few days now to find a OST to PST converter and its havin none of it. If I put the OST files on a cd, give them to my dad so he can take it into work, will they be able to get the emails out and give him them on another?

Or someother way if he takes them in?

Cheers
