Hi all,

Merry Christmas. :)

Just setup my new Habu mouse, loving it btw! It's sooo smooth!

Just been messing with the settings and saw "Polling Rate". Could some kind person quickly explain what this is for? At the moment it's set to 125Hz, but it can do 500Hz and 1000Hz. :)

I've updated the firmware which apparently fixes a problem with the Polling Rate.

Thanks for any help! Now where's my glass of sherry! Lol. :p

Merry christmas dude. I cant help on the polling rate but i just got a new mouse myself recently. Man its wierd and hard to get used to :( but overall better ofc :)

Bigger numbers sound better. aim high! hehe

Aim High. lol will do! Cheers! :)

I think that's the sensitivity of the mouse - polling rate sounds like the number of times a second the mouse fetches information on its location.

Turn it up to the max tbh.

Thanks peeps, will turn it up to the max. :D

its kinda like refresh rate on a monitor the higher the value the faster its updated in this case the scanning of the mouse for positional information.

is it an option just to up the pooling rate of the mouse or the entire usb ports?
i remember hearing that too hight a rate caused issues with some other peripherals

The highest polling rate will place a slight strain on your cpu apparently.

Yeah I read that on Google. I don't think it's anything to really worry about though. :)

Ah I see, so what's the DPI? Is that how much info it reads in motion and the Polling is how fast it transmits it? Something along those lines anyway. :p

I don't know if the option alters the mouse or the usb port, sorry. :(

I wouldnt muck around with the polling rate over the USB ports since it can potentially damage devices on the bus (though considering its M$ providing you the facility, I would assume they would have ensured this cant happen before providing the tool)...

As has been said before the polling rate is just the number of times (cycles) per second the mouse updates its relative position to the PC. Generally higher the better, but it will mean it starts to eat CPU cycles (not much really).

DPI is more concerned with how accurately it can report its position when it does, by breaking a square inch into say 800/1600/2000 dots...

Hiya, I got a HABU, the polling rate is how often it sends back info to the computer, and the dpi is how sensitive the optical is at scanning the surface, like printers dpi.

Its the software that increases the polling rate, so you're safe turning it up..But just have a look at your CPU load when moving it around quickly, I have a C2D 2.67, 2 gig ram..And when I had it turned up high, it can go upto 25% load. But maybe on mouserate checker, it says goes upto 2000 hz or mhz whichever it is... I still leave it turned up, because I never really play like that ie. moving the mouse constantly in circles very quickly:) But it does feel smoother when polling rate is higher...
