I'm about to get this webcam.

However I didn't realise that it came with an inbuilt microphone. I already have a skype handset, therefore would it be possible to use it without the sound features turned on, i.e. use only the camera functions?

Yes, you can select what source you want to use for the input, be it your headset or the mic on the webcam.

Would it be ok to send sound outward to my skype handset too? I.e. could I use them in conjunction with each other....
