Hi all,

Im planning on revising and taking the MCP exam(s) to gain an MCP in Windows Server 2008 as requested by work.

I have checked CBT Nuggets and it seems that there is only two CBT Nugget videos for server 2008 (one for SQL Server 2008 and one for Active directory 2008).

Does anyone have any reccomendations for alternative video learning seeing as CBT are not available for this?

Any reading matirial would be good aswel.

Thanks very much all :)

Not sure yet.

The certification accourdinly to Microsoft is actually called

"MCTS" - Microsoft Certified Technical Specialist for Server 2008.

There are 3 exams available

Code:

You work—or plan to work—with Active Directory and Directory Services, Active Directory server roles, certificate management, and Group Policy.

MCTS: Windows Server 2008 Active Directory Configuration

Exam 70-640: TS: Windows Server 2008 Active Directory, Configuring

You work—or plan to work—with IP addressing and services, names resolution, file and print services, network access and remote access, and monitoring network services.

MCTS: Windows Server 2008 Network Infrastructure Configuration

Exam 70-642: TS: Windows Server 2008 Network Infrastructure, Configuring

You work—or plan to work—with Windows deployment services, terminal services, Web services, and media services.

MCTS: Windows Server 2008 Applications Infrastructure Configuration

Exam 70-643: TS: Windows Server 2008 Applications Infrastructure, Configuring

So it all depends on which one my boss wants me to go for, unless he wants me to go for all 3, does anyone know what title you will gain if you do one??? does that class as an MPC, then you have to do all 3 to get an MCTS??

Most of this is for internal use and the fact that we are going to be selling, deploying and supporting Sharepoint and OCS to customers.

From my understanding of the new setup if you take one of the exams you mentioned above you will be a MCTS, which is equivalent to the old MCP.

If you are doing sharepoint wouldn't it be more beneficial to do one of the sharepoint exam?

As this will also make you a MCTS.

This is where I checked my info. If you hit the "Certifications" tab it show all the exams that are valid for you getting the MCTS.
