Hi all,
First post on here. I had a new system built by overclockers about a month ago (R5 1600, 16gb, GTX 1080) and I'm very very happy with it. Been thinking of getting one of the new Microsoft Mixed Reality Headsets. Ill be mostly playing VR sat at a desk for games like Project Cars 2 and Elite Dangerous when Steam VR starts working with them. So the inside out tracking without the sensors appeals to me. Plus the better resolution on the headsets.
Anyway I ran the PC Checker APP from the store and everything gets a tick apart from my USB 3.0 (you need one and one HDMI). I get a yellow triangle for my USB. Now I know I have 6 USB 3.0 and two 3.1 and they work fine.
Looking on the Microsoft Help page it says this:
Expand the category for Universal Serial Bus controllers, look at the devices listed, and uninstall any incompatible drivers.
Restart your PC.
Return to Device Manager and locate the eXtensible Host Controller item again. If you now see “Microsoft” at the end of the device name, you’re good to go. If not, go through the uninstall steps again to remove any additional non-Microsoft versions of the driver.
Now in Device Manager I have two "eXtensible Host controllers" (3.0/3.1) showing with Microsoft at the end.
AMD USB3.0 eXtensible Host Controller -1.0 (Microsoft)
AMD USB3.1 eXtensible Host Controller -1.10 (Microsoft)
But I also have this one lower down lower down the list:
ASMedia USB3.1 eXtensible Host Controller (ASM1141).
Now for some advice please.
Do I uninstall this as they say? But will it cause me problems?
Or do I just get the Headset anyway and just hope that it works ok? I have spoken to someone with a headset that had a yellow triangle showing and they say it works fine.
Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks.

Expand the category for Universal Serial Bus controllers, look at the devices listed, and uninstall any incompatible drivers.
- If the list includes an “eXtensible Host Controller” item that does not have “Microsoft” at the end of the device name, that driver is not compatible with Windows Mixed Reality. You’ll need to uninstall it.
- To uninstall a driver, right-click the device in the list and select Uninstall device. Select the Delete the driver software for this device check box, then select Uninstall.
Restart your PC.
Return to Device Manager and locate the eXtensible Host Controller item again. If you now see “Microsoft” at the end of the device name, you’re good to go. If not, go through the uninstall steps again to remove any additional non-Microsoft versions of the driver.
