Our accountant has a Dell Vostro Windows 7 PC that came with MS Office Starter. Its perfect for him as he only needs Word and Excel. Last night when shutting down he noticed that it had 21 or so updates to do.
This morning document icons are different, they're orange rectangles and opening them takes you to a MS Office Activation screen, with options to Buy Office, Activate Office, Try Office.
The PC came from Dell with Office Starter installed, no discs or Key on the tower from what I can tell, unless it's cunningly hidden somewhere.
Luckily though Word and Excel still launch from the Start Menu and he can Open the files by navigating to them first. Some files thumbnails still show up as these Orange rectangles though via the Open dialogue box, so you can't tell whether they are Word or Excel files!? You have to mouseover the icon till the extension pops up.
Any idea what is going on and how to fix it?
