Since I haven't been able to keep Office Starter on the latest version of Windows, and since it was terribly unreliable anyway, I'm now running Office To-Go and it seems to work fine. Office To-Go is a portable version of Office Starter before anyone asks. It is meant to run from flash media (only).

As I intend to leave it connected all the time, I wondered if anyone knew how to associate Excel and Word files with Office To-Go?

Before anyone tries to guess, no the normal methods aren't available as the applications run under App-V. However, since it's possible to associate Office files with Office Starter, it seems likely that it can be done with Office To-Go as well. I've tried modifying the Office Starter shortcuts to point to the new .exe but that didn't work.

Thanks

If anyone finds this in the future looking for the answer, I used this to get it to work (then added some icons using Types.exe):

"C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\microsoft shared\virtualization handler\cvh.exe" "Microsoft Word Starter 2010 9014006604090000" /n "%1"

"C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Application Virtualization Client\sftdde.exe" "Microsoft Excel Starter 2010 9014006604090000" Excel /dde

This is for the 32 bit versions.
