Is it possible to send out an email to a person and at the same time send that email to a folder on a shared drive?

I've been looking on 2003 and can't find it but I haven't looked at 2007/2010 yet.

Thanks

As far as I am aware you can only store emails in PST files. Using email rules you should be able to copy all sent items to a folder in your mailbox [aside from the default Sent Items folder, of course!]. As for sharing a PST file - sounds iffy to me as I suspect only one person at a time can use it, unless someone is sharing their mail folders.

I can manually drag an email from Outlook into a shared folder on the network but it would be great that when I send an email to somebody that I can send that email into a shared folder on the network so I don't have to do it manually.
I would have thought other companies would want to do this.

You could do this with a bit of VBA programming. Something along similar lines to this. (You need to scroll down the page to see the answers)

Oh never realised you could do that!

With Exchange, PST files etc, I am not sure why many people would need to send a copy of individual messages to folder on the HDD. None of my clients ever need to do this.

Still, variety is the spice of life! Though I am guessing MS doesn't think it is an important feature.

Well imagine that I have around 450 patients all with their own folder on a shared drive.
The 4 of us can be dealing with different people about the same patient so all have different emails.
We would like to be able to drop those emails into the patients directory.
It can be done manually but I'm sure could be made easier.
The other thing is that when I drag the email from 2007 into a folder it gives me a filename of the title of the email but when they drag from 2003 it's all stupid letters & numbers.

Ahh I see. Lots of staff seeing one patient. I can see why a copy of all emails would be handy to have.

Still, you found your solution! :D Happy days that MS lets you customize stuff, eh?
