Behind you... Naked!
Wow, I am utterly dying here.

My sons Lumia Windows phone.

He set it up and it wanted to ask a parent to go to windows.com blah de blah do the my family stuff and setup access so he can get stuff off the store.

I did that some months ago and he came to me today and said its still doing it.

now the MS site is horribly slow and so in the end, after half an hour of trying to bring up the family junk, I said sod it, just create a whole new account, and so he did,but we are still in the same position??

The thing is, that he is 18 so why does he need to get permission off his parents?

We have now done an account making out he is 46 and guess what? He STILL needs me to log in with my account and setup his family.

Now, I do have an account yes, and I have tried to go to teh family junk yet again, but as I said, its deadly slow.

Is there any way that we can create an account for his phone and not have to get a parent to log in, or is this just some issues that are happening for us?

just went on the site and its not slow at all, just go to family tab and remove it.
it doesn't realy care about age for most thing, it cares whether you've added a device or an account .

What is "family"? Why do you need that on your account?

it allow you to manage childrens phones, apps etc.

Shopping that stays inside smart limits
Kids can get what they want with the money you add to their Microsoft accounts. They won’t need your credit card, and we won’t let them buy stuff that’s too old for them.

Find your kids on a map
No more “where are you?” when kids have their Windows phones turned on. Adults in the family can use their phones to make sure their kids are OK.

A window into their digital life
Activity reports let you check in on kids’ online activity. If you need to, you can block specific apps, games, or websites.`

Set good screen time habits
Together, you can talk about good habits and set limits on how much time they can spend with their screens

Have you set the phone back to factory default?

hehe Yes, of course.

Get a phone running android or iOS

You are 50% right. I love android I hate apple. and as for Windows phones... They are bloody laughable at best ( Even though I have two )

I cannot believe it but I bought my daughter an iphone 7 for her birthday... I wanted insurance too and when they told me the price, I almost choked!!!

When the debit machine said "ACCEPTED" I almost cried...

Anyway, she gave her iPhone 5s to her oldest brother as he had the Windows Phone ( he is an xbox nutter and so I thought that since has had accounts for that, the Windows phone should be better suited )

But for them, the accounts have been just fine EVERYTIME.

But for the youngest git, its been hell EVERYTIME???

it allow you to manage childrens phones, apps etc.

Why have it set up for an 18 year old initially. It isn't going to be a standard thing that gets turned on by default for over 18s.

Obviously if you set that bit up, then it will require a supervising account.

Oh god... I think Im a plonker...

Sorry, I KNOW I am one...

I just realised he is not 18, he is 17

I have just grabbed his phone, and I told him that I am going to wipe everything and start again with a whole new account and its sat there showing a couple of sprockets now, and I just clicked... His birthday is FEB and he was born in 99 so he is 17!

Oh my god I am such a tool.

I will redo it now but I just went to the MS site and changed his info to 89 and I will have another shot.

Yes yes, pillock etc etc...LOL
