Right so I have been having this really annoying problem for the last couple of months now and have gone searching for solutions but failed. So I thought i'd share it with you guys.

I have a Microsoft sidewinder x6 keyboard currently, purchased from ocuk and it's been a really good keyboard until lately.
The best way for me to describe the problem i'm having is, i it's like my key's are being held down longer than they should be, as in when i hold a key down for a few seconds and then let go the keyboard still acts like i'm holding the key down for another second.. like lag. I've had people tell me that it's because my keyboard's dirty and it's getting stuck.. it's not that at all. My keyboard is very clean and underneath the keys and in the sockets etc are perfectly fine.. nothing that could be causing this problem.

I did get this problem a few months back but didn't have the time of day to put up with it and just formatted.. it was fine after that, which lead me to think that it could have been update causing the problem. So from that day i've turned auto updates off and installed NO updates. Then yesterday it started doing it again.. so i let all the updates in and installed them all correctly, but still the problem remained. I now have over 1.2GB of data and no where to put it till next week.. so would like to try and get this resolved.

I've checked all the drivers, tried uninstalling the keyboard completely and reinstalling with NO luck.. I also still have my Razer Lycosa keyboard which I upgraded from.. which now does exactly what the sidewinder is doing.. !!

Running Windows 7 Pro 64

Any help would really be appreciated before I tear my hair out!!

It's effecting my mouse aswell, it makes a sound as if too many keys are held down (But not the exact same sound).. but there not. Like i said i look after my equipment well and physically can't see anything that could be causing the problem..

I'd just reinstall again but seeing how this problem hasn't just disappeared and has now come back I want to get rid of it once and for all.

Have you tried adjusting the key repeat rate in keyboard settings.
I tried that.. it doesn't work..
