Hi need a little help, please tell me if i am in the wrong.

I just called Microsoft support and i asked about the red ring 3 year cover i told him it was a jasper model and he said i have never heard of it then i said you know Falcon,jasper e.t.c he said never heard of them names before.

Is this normal or ?

The reason i am asking is because i wish to buy private and need to know if it is covered, excuse my ignorance i know nothing of the xboxs.

He all so said it will not be covered only the original person who purchased the console is covered is this correct .?

ps. A the end of the conversation he said call back with serial number and we will check to see if it is band from live.

Also he said buying a used xbox is like buying a second hand car :)

You essentially have three years from the date on the sticker on the back of the console. Find that out and you will have three years from that date.
 
You don't need to mention second hand, or whatever. They don't need to know that!

However, check the Warranty sticker is still intact, that's a big thing :)

If the serial has already been registered to somebody else's Xbox Live profile, it may be a little trickier.

.one. - go to xbox.com, sign in on your Xbox Live profle, then go to the My Xbox => Accounts section, then at the bottom right go to Account Management Support Page, then in the top right go to My Account, then My Devices. Finally, you can then register your Xbox (if it has not already been registered). You can then request a repair based on your error and it should automatically detect what warranty status the xbox is in.

I wouldn't have thought helpdesk people would know an awful lot about what chipset it what, they'll just stick a serial number in and they'll know all they need to from that.

With the prices of xboxes as they are currently, I have no idea why people buy pre-owned! If they ask for money to repair it, xclamp it, sell it on as repaired fixed and put the rest of the money towards a new one.
 
You probably confused him by using jargon. I'm betting a lot of the people that work in the contact centre wouldn't know what a Falcon or Jasper model was, you'd have made more sense to him if you just said it was a 360 Arcade/Premium/Elite. :)

Exactly. Like 99% of call centres of this type, they're minimum wage non-technical people that follow a script.
