i sent my xbox 360 off because the 3 red lights happened.. How long should I wait before I call them and ask for free things or something like that. They said a maximum of 25 days it would take.. Cheers

The whole process took a week for me, that's from me sending my xbox to getting a new one back.

This was quite a while ago though, they're probably inundated now :(

Microsoft has had mine for 20days and have just been told its being dispatched back to me tomorrow.

Wasn't JBeck's one away for a good while , and then came back still faulty?

I may be wrong but if true

Don't assume anything is my advise..

I sent mine off yesterday...

When I took it into the UPS store on Tottenham Court Road... all I said to the guy was 'I've got a package that I was told I could drop off here for pickup' and he straight away said 'Faulty X-Box?'

I hadn't shown him the shipping label or anything!
Obviously they must be getting loads of returns lately.

(I was very impressed with the service when I called Microsoft... they didn't talk to me like an idiot like a lot of companies do when you have a faulty product/service).

Mate of mine's took 29 days to return, he's had it back three days and it's gone again !!
When he rang they offered him a free game (launch title) and a wireless headset as compensation, he also had a two month Live trial voucher.

Mine arrived back yesterday after exactly 20 days, don't think its a refurb its got a 9/2006 manufacture date but its got that new plastic smell :)

BTW the console that died (3 RLOD) was my launch day console, RIP old friend :(.

When mine came back, MS threw in a cople months worth of free live subscription too.

My 360 has been with MS since the 13th (as recorded by UPS). I've had an email saying it's being sent back with a tracking ID but it's only saying that the Billing Information was received on the 6th August and nothing else. According to the email the return date was 9/7/2007 (or 7/9/2007 - email is at home and I'm at work).

I'm definately going to contact MS as and when my 360 arrives. I've paid for an extended warranty so I had expected a faster response over the free warranty extension given out now. Oh and my 360 died 2 days after the annoucement of the 3 year RRoL warranty extension :(.

Mine has landed today and, according to the wife, it's an October 06 console where mine was Nov 05. It took around 20 days.

Whats more interesting is that mine had been opened and severly hacked around with when I was trying to fix the 3RLOD problem using the info on the net. You could clearly see where I had used a screwdriver to split (literally, half the pins were broke off 'cos I was frustrated) the case open.

So, either they are happy to replace 360's that have been opened for modification / fixing, or, much more likely, they aren't even checking them when they get them off the lorry.

One of mine came back today also (26 days) and I also had a newer console (October 06). It looked brand new as when I took the stickers off it left some glue behind so it looked like they had been on there a while. DVD drive is quieter so thats a plus. :)
