Could it be real this time?
We have no confirmation or sourcing of our own on this, so, we don't vouch for its accuracy. But we will be watching the clock at 10 am Crecente time tomorrow, as CrunchGear is rumormongering that Microsoft will announce Blu-Ray Xboxes will be shipping by Christmas, at that time. Rumor has it they'll cost less than an Elite.

Read the story in full over at Kotaku

i call BS, Microsoft wouldn't be stupid enough to put out another sku thats somewhere in between an elite and a premium, if they do do blu ray it will be an add on drive.

why would they announce it now and not release it until Xmas? People will be majorly put off buying any xbox, due to the knowledge of a cheaper and more feature rich console in the future.

Sounds like BS to me ..... plus kotaku have a nasty habit of taking rumours from forums and calling it news.

Would be a very stupid move for MS ...... xbox360 strength so far has been its headstart, which has gained it its extensive games library and cheap price.

But for a blu ray player its too loud and it is simply not as good a media playback device as the ps3.

And another sku would really damage the brand and really anger those who have recently purchased an xbox360.

Pointless, stupid and a really dumb move by MS if true.

Highly doubt it, their has been more than 5 sites announce it in the past few months and all have been turned down. Dont go holding your breath for this one.

Don't understand all these whines about the noise of the 360. I've played on 3 different 360's now, old and new, and none of them have made very much noise at all. Even if I have my TV volume on low I don't even hear it.

Then you've been lucky haven't you, not experiencing any noise with yours doesn't mean it's not an issue.

Edit, and if MS think I'll even consider shelling out for yet another SKU, they can kiss my nether regions.

360s aren't too loud, certainly the launch models were (i had one) but the more recent falcons aren't loud at all (i have one), if they do release bluray for the 360 it will be as an add on ala HD DVD, and even if it were internal it would only be used for movies, they couldn't and wouldn't alienate half their user base by starting to produce games on blu ray, they'll leave that till next console. i wouldn't be too fussed personally, i've got the HD DVD player for £20 and i can get HD DVDs which are just as good as blu rays atm for less than 1/3 the price

Yeah good luck getting new titles on HDDVD in the later months of this year, Warner are about to stop or have stopped making new HDDVD along with other movie studios.

I hope you like watching the same movies over and over again.;)
