Microsoft tool to create USB Windows 7!

Everyone can have an ISO, just IMGburn to read the DVD to an image ISO and then follow the OP :)

Not a heck of a lot in it to be honest, personally I still find decent DVD drives to be a tad faster. But you have to carry the physical media and of course, need a working drive!

Yeah I'm not sure USB is much faster than a DVD but it saves having to find a external DVD drive if you have a Netbook and fancy putting Windows 7 on it.

I use Technet a lot so have loads of ISOs on an external disk. I'm wondering if this tool can be used for putting any ISO on a USB disk!!

if you have a grub boot menu, you can just add as many isos as you want to a usb stick

my XP/Windows 7 usb stick also has my acronis ISO and a partedmagic one

i would say yes it's much quicker, and you can even do SD cards if your hardware supports it (nc10's don't) - its also handy if your installing on netbooks and if you have a spare USB its just handy i find

Very nice tool. Especially for less advanced users who aren't familiar with ISOs, and don't know what to do with them.

Has anyone actually used this? It's not working with an ISO I just made using Imgburn from a full retail Windows 7 DVD.

I get the following error: We were unable to copy your files. Please check your USB device and the selected ISO file and try again.

edit: tried it with a blank DVD and that worked... not sure why my UFD isn't working with this because I've used it with other tools to get Windows on my netbook

I installed 7100 initially by copying the files to a USB stick out of the ISO and it ran perfectly for me. Obviously a MS solution should work for all systems not a lucky one or two :D

Here is the utility I mentioned earlier: http://code.kliu.org/misc/win7utils/

I'm going to use it on my DVD ISO for 64bit as my dad is getting a 32bit upgrade edition from Acer for his notebook, I will set it up so I can put 64bit on for him instead and use his key.

I had to reinstall Windows 7 today so used the software I posted in my OP. It installed SO much quicker from the USB stick and was a extremely simple to use so gets my thumbs up. Just thought I'd let people know it's now tried and tested!

Although I managed to delete the wrong disk during the install phase which is Darwin tax I suppose as it had all my data on it! I had plugged the wrong one in. Fun times all round I'm using "Testdisk" now to try and recover the stuff! So its a good USB tool let down by the tool using the machine!

Ahh the joys of nuking the wrong HDD! I once ran a diagnostic tool on the wrong HDD. I pretty much nuked the whole MBR and file tables before I realised. Stupid thing was I even had a sticky note in line of sight saying which HDD I was testing :p

A few hours transfering my stuff with a Linux Live CD saved my arse :D

All I get from the OP link is
