Why does every game I install on Steam want to install this. I seem to have every possible version from 2005 through to 2010 both x86 and x64 versions.

Surely they can just use the 2010 x64 version why does the game installer not see this and think "ah ha no need for this old version here".

Or have I completely missed the point?

It's microsoft we're typing about, common sense is usually left back in the Alpha labs.
