*** Microsoft Windows 11 Thoughts & Discussion Thread ***

Anyone else noticed on Windows 11 having Local Disk appearing randomly, just a drive letter, no space, and if I look at the hardware info for it it says its part of my 970Evo+ even though, its not...

Probably the system partition for some reason showing up, I've had randomly weird issues like that from time to time but nothing recent/regular.

Is MSMG still best for a custom Windows 11 install, or has anyone tried NTLite?
NTLite has some features behind a paywall so I would double check what you want or can get from it first if you go down this route.

MSMG was good the last time I used it but was a few years ago now.

Most people install the Windows ISO and then run tools like Chris Titus utility or something similar to debloat it all.

Ive just updated to W11 (using the W11 assistant) was sweet as a nut and no issues.
I had to enable TPM 2.0...
And I was wondering is that the reason why Im seeing a slight performance decrease in TimeSpy (3dmark).
Was previously getting 28k now Im getting 27k.
(Although Port Royal has gone up from 25.3k to 25.8 bizzarely.

Any clarification about this would be most appreciated!

I cant rememer reading that tpm 2.0 comes with a performance hit. As its windows 11 worth checking core isolation is set to off.

Windows security>device securty>core isolation>core isolation details>memory integrity set to off

Anyone reckon windows 12 will be subscription model?
I have a feeling it will, with them trying to force new install to have online accounts seems to me like they want to get as many people with accounts set up now so it's seamless transition for subscriptions .

Personally ,I hate the way windows is going,it's a privacy nightmare, and definitely don't want any subscription model in future windows.
Imagine paying to be spied on.

Unlikely. Windows is a platform to sell Office 365, OneDrive etc. MS is doing very well out of it by all accounts. Free platform = more eyes for their wares, ad revenue from Bing and the like

Thanks, memory integrity is already off.

One of the recent updates seems to have messed up the taskbar, seeing it on both my own systems and work PCs which have recently updated. Sporadically clicking on an app on the task bar won't register and quite often the hover over preview won't change to that app window or the close button on it won't close the app or window.

24H2 requires a CPU which support SSE 4.2 instructions. Previous versions of windows 11 did not.

If you meet that, then it might be blocked from auto updating due to having incompatible software installed.

I will have to have a look to see if my cpu supports that.

Is there a system requirement for 24H2?

My laptop that has the system requirements for windows 11 has never updated to 24H2.
Due to issues with 24H2 it could be blocked by something installed or hardware.

for example, There is an issue with Easy Anti Cheat that comes with games so if this is installed it will not push 24H2 update as the issue is not resolved and being worked on

Interesting but I don't think it's software as I don't have much extra software on the laptop.

Cheers
