I did a clean install of 25H2 yesterday and created a local account without any issues. This was on a VM

Did Shift F10 and ran this command start ms-cxh:localonly

Also did a clean install of 24H2 today and this also worked

I'd consider other options if people want rid of the AI 'features'.

MS themselves say Windows will become an agentic OS, it's only going one way at the moment.
Indeed, its a shame there is not another option. Windows without the bloat\AI, funny thing is I would pay for a light version where this crap is not included

I've looked at Bazzite but some games with Anti Cheat do not work so its not so easy to switch.

Yeah the Anti cheat is an issue, I haven't played games that need it for a while now so I'm on W10 extended updates as I switch to Bazzite.

I don't have a problem with 'AI' per se but not having control on whether you do have progressively more and more taken out of your hands does bother me.

I know what you mean.

I do not want anything to do with AI or Copilot on my system and Microsoft not allowing people to uninstall (not just disable it) is BS along with this new tripe they are now going on about

My pc finally kicking in with the 24h2 update. I wonder if they've fixed the bugs in that year they've had - or just added more.
Most likely never fixed them and resolved in 25H2 rather than fix 24H2 and just skip it.

24H2 goes EOL 13th of October 2026

All of a sudden my file explorer windows don't remember size and position, I've tried the fixes on Google but none had done the trick, any ideas folks?

Hold shift and drag the window where you want. Next window should open in the same place (shifted if original is still open) and size.

Nope, still opens small and in the middle of the screen, no matter what I do! :(

I have no idea whats changed, windows update?

I had similar issues at times were differing Windows flavours. There is an older utility that I think can still be found called ShellFolderFix.
That would retain all opened folder sizes and positions. It boots with Windows and resides in the tray.
If you are considering it I am not sure how it might work with the latest Windows, not being developed for some time.

Point is though, for you, something seems to have recently caused that change... ?
