Can you install general purpose apps onto Home Server 2011, also does it support add cards?

Could I run for example the server element of media portal with a PCI tuner card? Is there a possibility it can run virtualbox too?

I've not tried a tuner card but as long as there are Windows Server 2008 drivers then you should be ok. Virtualbox runs without any problems.

That's good news, I wasn't sure if it was crippled and limited to what MS wanted you to install.

Obviously what you intend to do is unsupported and may break the server....having said that enjoy :eek:
