Microsoft Wireless Optical mice

I have 3 of the above mice connected to various different computers. All of them exhibit this exact same problem, and I was wondering how to fix it once and for all. What happens is that when scrolling up using the scroll wheel, the page somethings jumps down every once in a while. Also, when I am at the very top of a page, and I scroll the wheel up one notch, the screen actually moves down. The second time I scroll the wheel up, the screen moves back up again. All in all, it is slowly driving me round the bend... scrolling up on the scroll wheel should do just that, move the page upwards, not upwards and occassionally downwards. How do I get rid of this annoyance once and for all?
