Right basically i have a not so it literate mother and she does a lot of work in word for work. But she is always making mistakes, overwriting files by mistake, clicking no when closing stuff when she wanted to save it etc etc.

Obviously im trying to teacher her to do things correctly but mistakes still happen.

what i was wandering is is there a way to save every file shes working on every 1 minute for example, save it to a network share and that file NOT ever been deleted (unless by me of course). But not like auto recovery because it seems if word closes okay then the files just get deleted.

Any ideas would be great

Having a quick look over Word 2007 you can specify a save to location. So you could get it to save any files your Mum has open every 5 minutes or however often you wish to a network share. Then limit your Mum's rights to the share to be just that of read and write (and not delete!).

Thats exactly what i was thinking :) when she has finished working on it ill give it ago..

any other ideas? prehaps a 3rd party app designed for this purpose ?

Her laptop is vista but its dang basic so it dosent have that feture :( rather not install ultimate on it since i've tried before but cant get any drivers to work (only reson its working atm is becuase its a prebuilt style thing with a restore cd)

anyway, regardless of that i dont want to but thanks for the idea!

also im using XP on my rig so despite disabling simple file sharing i cannot set the permissions as such that it can write a file but not delete it (can only set that sort of advance as permission for a local account not a network share! grr)

any other ideas?
