Can anyone help me please with cursor alignment? I hardly use Word so I'm not sure of some of the features. I was sent a template to fill in. Have a look at my screenshot where I've marked 2 areas with yellow. At the very top of the document, I don't know how to get the date to sit on the dotted line. What it's doing is placing the text in the space between the dotted line, and pushing the remaining dotted line to the right.

And below that, to get my text to sit on the unbroken lines (cursor was either above or below the line) in the 'Target' area, I pushed the return key a couple of times, but what that does is push the lines further apart slightly.

If you press the Insert key it toggles between insert and overwrite mode which fixes your first problem.

The second problem is that the line isn't a character, but the text is set in that region to underline. Hightlight the text once you have entered it then either find the correct icon at the top, or right click, select Font and then switch underline off.

Insert key doesn't seem to do anything. And for the second part, after highlighting the text, right clicking and selecting font, I can't see where the underline is to switch it off. Anyway don't worry, a friend sorted it for me by inserting some invisible boxes or something using the tables.
