I'm looking for a bit of buyer's advice here.

A fella at work is offering his 80gb Zune for £120 or best offer. Now I have a 16gb ipod touch - I love it for video, but the capacity is way too low.

One of the key things for me is video quality. Is it anywhere near as good as the Touch?

Also, how easy is it to transfer videos/mp3s? I just want something where I can drag and drop my music - I hate iTunes with a passion. I know the Zen allows you to do it - is it the same with the Zune?

I don't know what the video quality of the touch is like, but the Zune's is pretty damn good in my experience, although not quite as good as my old Vision:m, but the screen is bigger.

You can't drop and drag, you have to use their software, which isn't that bad for me and although not as easy as drop and drag, it's not that much hassle, it syncs with the Zune and loads them up.

You also have to re-encode a lot of the video's, but doesn't take long with something like Videora.

Overall, I think £120 is a bargain price for this great bit of kit.

I cant say enough good things about my 80gb zune2. Its kept me sane on many a flight this year when all BA had to offer was PS I love you or some other such tripe.

As far as small screen Video goes I think its pretty dam good. Only minor issue is if you want "ipod like" connectivity to your car then your not going to find "zune connection" as an option. That said Audis Ipod connection sucks badly and your better off using SD cards anyway so it didnt really bother me. and I can always fall back on the FM adapter.

The zune software is WAY better than Itunes and TBH if i could join there subscription model then I would (only available in the US), Its so much better value than Itunes.

I took the plunge and bought the Zune - £120 is a great deal.. or so I thought!

The player works fine, but I cannot get my pC to recognise the player when it's plugged in. I've tried different ports, getting the updated drivers for the player, restarting the Zune and my PC, switching off/on the wireless, going through all the options with it in Device Manager - nothing works.

There's a post on the support forums here about it - http://forums.zune.net/277059/ShowPost.aspx

Has anyone had this problem and solved it? If I can't, I'm going to have to give it back and I don't want to go back to my iPod Touch :(

old thread I know, but I had the same problem after 12 months. It is the cable - I bought a cheap one on an auction site and it works fine now. This might just help you.
