Can you microwave an unfrozen chicken kiev?

It has no microwave instructions but i am staying in a hotel which only has a grill/microwave combi

i know some people will slay me for posting this, so to those please just press the back button :)

If it doesn't have microwave instructions then I'd say no. Microwave foods are generally things that have been cooked then packed and the microwaving process is basically a reheat. I'd say that particular chicken kiev hasnt been cooked beforehand so you'd just be eating a hot but essentially uncooked meal, if that makes sense.

Edit: Maybe if you absolutely nuked it - it'd be ok, but I wouldnt chance it but you might feel differently though. :)

My guess is that it will explode so cut it in half first. It's got a chamber inside full of butter, which will no doubt super heat before the chicken cooks.

It will probably be a bit soggy when microwaved, so grilling/baking is the best option.

Oh no! To the internet!! Can't you just buy something else to cook, eat at the hotel or use your initiative, try to cook it and see if it comes out looking OK?

What sort of person carries a chicken kiev in their luggage anyway? If it wasnt in your luggage then I assume you went out and actually bought it knowing you only had a microwave?

shame you didnt read my post and hit the back button, wow you look so cool and clever on the internet.

I bought it thinking it said i could grill it, realised my mistake and then thought i wonder if anyone has microwaved them before.

Thanks everyone else, not sure i will risk it, cant be doing with food poisoning right now :p

Er, it is possible I believe....think I had one ages ago from a microwave, but I tend to oven them...as I hate mircowaves.

It will take a good while though sadly, what brand is it? the kiev I mean :p

Better to go hungry than have food poisoning.

I did read your post and hence decided that the image of you carrying a chicken kiev around in your luggage was funny enough to reply to.

It's amazing that the human race ever evolved without access to OCUK from some of the posts made in GD :D
