Microwave Meals & Snacks

Assuming this is for work, the best microwave range in my opinion is from Lidl. They're steamed food in plastic tubs which you simply pop in the microwave for 10 mins or so. My favourite is the chicken & chorizo paella, but they're all really good to be honest, even the vegan one.

Ah just googled it, the Lidl "what's cooking?" range found in the frozen section. I've got some at home, I'll pop a photo up later. Seriously, try it. For microwave food it'll blow you away.

I wasn't personally looking for anything , just a general topic of conversation of peoples likes and dislikes.

@robfosters , I never knew they done dolmio pasta pots , are they tasteless or too strong with the herbs?

@Diddums , Thanks , we don't have a Lidl local but will keep it in mind.

I absolutely love these pizza pockets from Goodfellas. I grabbed 3x boxes for £5 about a week ago and it makes a nice snack here and then. Hell I had one for a quick brekkie last week as I usually don't do breakfasts.

I've also been buying Uncle Bens microwave rice from Iceland/Sainsburys whenever they're £1. They work well with a can of tuna.

People that monopolise the work microwave for 10 minutes at a time are another reason I love working from home. :p

I found the pasta to be ok, but the sauces are very bland and watery, and the sharp tomato taste is very overpowering.

One of my fave lunches is UB Mexican spicy rice with some reheated Sainsbury’s firecracker chicken slices and a good dash of a moderately hot sauce. Got a real kick to it. Sometimes add a dollop of coleslaw to cool it off.

Not a microwave fan myself, but I'm told an Uncle Ben's microwave rice packet mixed with a Cup-a-soup for sauce makes for a very good meal.
I used to do something similar with a takeaway, mixing egg fried rice with the chicken & sweetcorn soup.

10 mins?
You're lucky... We have people who'll put their 1-min microwave tuna-pasta on, usually with a brew sat next to it getting cold, but then leave their food in the machine while they go off for a walk or take a **** or whatever. Of course, everyone else is too polite to even touch that unattended food, so there's a queue of Tupperware-toting twazzocks blocking the coffee machine, while two or three self-important self-appointed staff welfare representatives individually go round the office trying to find out whose food it is...
About half an hour later the meal and accompanying brew is claimed, yet no-one ever seems to know who claimed it or saw anyone else go near it.

So you have the stench of plastic food coming from the kitchen, while the unhealthy ones and the 'fashionably ethnic white people' try to outflank you with the reek of their McDonalds, KFC, or Thai/Indian/Guatemalan artisan takeaways.

And people wonder why I just don't bother eating lunch.....

I do enjoy a rustlers rib sandwich now and again. Same with their chargrilled chicken burger. :) I know they’re full of crap and bad for you. Sometimes I just can’t be bothered cooking :P
