Microwaves with Grills

Yes, it's a microwave with a grill element in the top, so will cook toast, and grill other food just like a grill, or as a combination of microwaving and grilling.

We have a microwave/oven/grill combi thing, not a cheap one mind, can't say I've ever used the grill but the oven is great, heats up in minutes, and cooks very nice. I'm sure it saves a fair bit of electric over a big oven for doing a pizza or something.

Toasters are for toast, grills are for grilling, microwaves are for microwaving, mixing the 3 just sounds like it's gimmicky and won't last long

They are generally alright as long as you buy a decent quality one and for that read expensive! I've had a bit of experience with the decent panasonic ones and they do a good job.

Hmm thanks for the responses... its for the office and due to H&S we can't get a toaster :( so thinking of workarounds...

Am thinking this combi thing may be more hassle than its worth though..

The one you linked will be fine, it'll make your toast as well as the toaster. Personally though I'd just keep a toaster in my desk drawer if they banned them :)

Ha ha! Thought of this but my colleague said that we would get too much business if people noticed we had toast! ;)

i don't think that's true tbh, how can a toaster be against health and safety? im pretty sure at the holiday inn at glasgow airport their morning buffet has bread beside a toaster so guests can have bread or make fresh toast themselves. also how do you think they make toast in most cafe's? or other workplaces. your health and safety person is being a **** tbh and not using basic common sense, i know 10 year olds who can use a toaster without killing themselves.

It's probably that someone in the office is an idiot and likes to control things by claiming completely cack stuff like this.

the guy will have no common sense, sure if they were using gas or a bbq to make toast, you would have concerns but a toaster? the person would actually have to be retarded to do anything which could cause themselves harm, and in that case im pretty sure the company would not be liable or covered by their insurance policy.

imagine what next, you go into a steakhouse and order a steak and guess what you need to cut it using a bread knife because steak knives are banned due to health and safety.

i would make a petition tbh or tell them they need to get some basic common sense.

Depending on where they work I guess there could be some legitimate reason but I think it's far more likely we're both right and someone else in the office/organisation is an idiot.

If you just want toast, get a sandwich press.

no chance, if health and safety have banned toasters which are safe, how do you think most people get the toast out of toasters and sandwich presses, etc.

they use their hands, toasters are safe because the toast is usually sticking out the top, so you grab the top part, on a sandwich press there's likely to be a few burnt fingers, as some people will generally be quite clumsy, same issue wouldn't really apply with a toaster they would actually need to place their fingers inside, unless something gets stuck, which never really happens tbh, but if it did you would hope they would be smart enough to use a fork to fish it out.

We are in a serviced office so are governed by their laws and those who govern are proper jobsworths.

Well it turns out that we can't get one till we make more money :/ its ridiculous I am having the thought that 5 of us spot a tenner to get it... will save us more each considering how much is spent at EAT/Pret on porridge and soup etc - but we shouldn't have to?!

Hmmm....back to granola and yoghurt for me then :(
