evening folks,ok just put in corsair hx 1000w now the eps12v/atx12v hardwired cable that splits into 2 4 pins cant quite make it to cpu power there is a little extension that came with case, and in case manual it says cpu power extension but has written on it P4 !!!!! is it ok to use this little extension?

mobo is the gigabyte x58 ud3r

P4 is just the name given to that connection as it was introduced with pentium 4 boards that needed more power than the standard connections could deliver. The name P4 has been kept even though it is used with much newer motherboards.

Is this P4 extension cable a 4 pin or 8 pin?

its 8 pin mate but splits into 4`s just like the hard wired cable from cpu

Good stuff, that will be fine - just use it with the connectors together as an 8 pin extension.

i have the h50 cooler ive connected the radiator fan to the cpu header and the pump to pwr_fan so the pump runs full whack is this ok?? what is this pwr header anyway ?

just switched on this 4ghz bundle cpu temp is 41 and mch temp is 60 this is what bios is telling me is this normal folks cause this wee heatsink on this gigabyte x58a ud3r is roasting!!!!!! got an h50 cooler aswell havent been no further than the bios

switched it off!!
