Mid Life system boost

Hi guys

Just wondering what you think of this as a mid life system boost:

The Mobo will replace an Abit IP 35 (which I think has an intermitent capacitor issue) and the SSD will become my new boot drive a long with some 3D applications.

Currently running a Q6600 which I havent yet overclocked (also a reason for the new board) with 4GB of OCZ DDR2 6400 and a GTX 260.

Rather than splurge a lot of money on a shiny new i7 system, I figured an £85 motherboard with an overclock of the Q6600 to around 3.4 or 3.6 Ghz would give me a healthy mid life system boost. I'll be upgrading the ram to latest DDR2 stuff when some more funds roll in.

Unless anyone can think of anything better? Much appreciated :)

For me a mid life system boost means a new video card, a format of the hard drive, some general maintenance and maybe some more ram if it’s cheap enough.

If you motherboard has a dodgy capacitor and you want to replace the board I would look around the MM or the bay for a deal on a second hand board (ideally a Biostar P45) depending of course on how long you intend to keep it.

Looks good to me, the 260 is still a good card and the Q6600 is still a really good quad if it's overclocked past 3Ghz.

The 4GB of RAM you have is plenty for most things.

Along with the SSD I would format all your HDDs also.
