Mid range gaming rig for around £700 (max)

As the title suggests.

A friend of mine is about to come into some money in the next couple months.
He wants me to spec him a fairly good gaming rig for no more than £700.

He already has a 22" monitor, so that is not needed. I was looking at the i5 CPUs and figured the 750 would be the best bet, but would the Pentium G6950 also be better? I've been reading reviews on that CPU and it is a winner.

So, if anyone can please spec me a machine and I will mull over them. GPU needs to be ATI under his specifications (as well as mine lol).

Right the two specs so far, look good. But I will likely change the 5850 for a 5770 as he mainly plays flight simulation games. At present he has a 4830 which he is happy with.

Also I want to get the Corsair H-50 CPU cooler as I feel this would be a more adequate cooling solution (and for him it would look awesome lol).

But very good suggestions so far. Much appreciated

Fair enough, I've had an H50 myself for about 6 months now and I'm quite happy with it. I usually just don't bother including it in spec suggestions as it's a bit expensive for the performance, but if he's got the cash and he wants it then it's still a nice cooler.
