Hi guys,

I've just built my frist pc with these components:

Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-P67A-UD3-B3 Intel P67

CPU: Intel i5 2500k Sandy Bridge 3.3 ghz

Memory: Corsair XMS3 4GB (2x2GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C9 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit

PSU: OCZ 700W Mod XStream Pro PSU - 2x PCI-E 6x SATA

GPU: Sapphire HD 5770 Vapor-X 1GB GDDR5

Case: Coolermaster CM 690 II LITE Version

Cooling: H60 in couple of days + 1 x 120mm intake fan at front, 2 x 120 exhaust fans at the top, 1 x 120mm intake fan at the bottom, 1 x 120mm intake fan at rear.

At first when I've built this pc two weeks ago I was using my old gpu which was old geforce 8600 256ddr3. Everything was working well for almost 6 days. Then I bought 5770 and after 30minutes of playing metro2033 my pc has turned off (I've just heared windows 7 shutting down sound) and after that I couldn't start my computer anymore. Well it was starting up but then turning off after 3 seconds (basically just couldnt boot up). Also power button at front didn't always work. In order to get it working I had to unplug power supply few times and plug it back and eventually it worked but only for one attempt. After it has turned off after 3 seconds I had to repeat the whole procedure again. I have tested my psu with other computer and it was working perfectly fine with no problems at all. I tried swaping rams etc however it didn't work. So I was left with either motherboard not working or cpu being fried. I gave pc-world a chance to prove how good they really are  and they tested few of my coponents and they confirmed that it's motherboard.

After that I've sent my motherboard back to the shop that I bought it from and now I'm waiting for the new one.

What worries me is that it may happen again
What do u guys think ? Maybe it was my stock cooler but I was looking after temperatures and they didn't extend 50 deegres while playing metro. Now when I will get my new motherboard I will install everything again but instead of stock cooler I will put h60. Will all of those coponents work together in peace ?

Thanks,
Mr.Honda

My money would have been on the PSU. I don't see any incompatibility between the components (h60 is compatible and not a probem in terms of fitting in the case), but the weakest link is the power supply, although it should be dealing with those components OK. Could be fried or on the way out but a session of metro should not have killed it, not with that graphics card.
