I have just upgraded my PC to a 4600 x 2 AMD 1gb of DDR2. 19" TFT

The graphics are built onto the board (Nvidia 6100) and I want somthing that will be less then £80 but will give me good performance on some on line gaming such as SOF2 & Medal of honor.

I dont mind what make it is but been a little skint after buying the PC I need the best bang for my money and somthing that will play some newer games at a decent level.

Also is there somthing that can be opened up & clocked with out having to do any physical work to the card?

P.S PCI-Express type.

Something like this maybe?:

BFG 3DFuzion GeForce 7600 GS 256MB DDR2 TV-Out/DVI (PCI-Express) - Retail (GX-026-BG) £72.84

Or if you want to pay a little bit extra, you could always go for:

BFG 3DFuzion GeForce 7600 GT 256MB GDDR3 TV-Out/DVI (PCI-Express) - Retail (GX-025-BG) £88.11

I had a 6600gt AGP in my old pc and that was a decent card for my games. Only thing it was a little noisy and got a bit worm. Performance wise it was fine and had TV out option that was used quite a lot.

So I take it the 7600GT is the next step up or is it the same but just for the PCI-Express?

If you can stretch it would be worthwhile to go for this card

7600GT is double the performance of a 6600GT

I know I said £80 but have just seen this on this week only

OcUK GeForce 7900 GS 256MB GDDR3 TV-Out/Dual DVI (PCI-Express) - Retail (GX-042-OK THIS WEEK ONLY

I take it this card is a lot better then the 7600??

and at £99 + Vat it seems a good deal.

I will have to sell a left kidney if I keep spending at this rate, lol

Yeah the 7900 GS is a good card, it fits between the 7800 GT, and the 7900 GT, so it would be better than the 7600 GT as thats only around 6800 Ultra performance. :)

Thats a cracking price as well for it.

Heres what Gibbo said about the 7900 GS

This is essentially a faster clocked 7800 GT. So performance wise it fits in between the 7800 GT and 7900 GT which is position to compete against ATI X1900 GT. We have a wide selection of models available with 256MB, 512MB and overclocked versions with more coming soon. Prices start at just £109.99+VAT which is amazing when you consider these are quicker than 7800 GT's and not much slower than the 7900 GT. Also with any luck these won't have any of the reliability issues as its a new core, new cooler and different memory.

Is the OcUK GeForce 7900 GS 256MB better the the BFG make better even though it is £30 more expensive??

BFG GeForce 7900 GS OC 256MB GDDR3 HDTV/Dual DVI (PCI-Express) - Retail (GX-033-BG)

or

OcUK GeForce 7900 GS 256MB GDDR3 TV-Out/Dual DVI (PCI-Express) - Retail (GX-042-OK)

I have been told the BFG are good but this one is a golden sample and I have been told they are good ??

THE BFG is also 70mhz faster core speed.

The OCUK card on "this week only" is also a de-badged Gainward golden sample card!

And so you should be. By its nature a sample card includes only the PCB & HSF. You will require the purchase of a suitable GPU to run the card, i assume you knew that. ;) :p

due to the vagaries of manufacturing processes some cards in the same manufacturing run will perform better than others. My understanding is that Golden Sample cards are the best performing cards, cherry picked by the manufacuturer. these are then normally pre-overclocked and badged as Golden Samples.

I had a Gainward FX5700 ultra golden sample.
