mid range lappy for gaming old or new

hi guys my lad has managed to save 500 quid and wants a lappy which will play games like league of legends,wow, hazard ops and would also maybe like to try call of duty,mordor on low

we have seen a laptop with an i5 proceesor 8 gig ram and geforce 840m graphics

but im in the mindset he might be better to try a 2nd hand alienware ?

what you guys think he simply does not have the room for a desktop and desk and monitor ?

id steer clear of alienware. only coz people open them up to tinker as that is supported under warranty. my m18x was open all the time, but i didnt damage anything, but i have seen many that have on the dell forums.

ah right i see what you mean might be best to go new then . i guess the 840m should be ok for light gaming its not like he wants to play far cry 4 maxed out or anything

there is an Asus (N551JK) with a 850M which is currently out of stock everywhere, but has been seen for about £550. It is a big improvement over the 840m

that would be spot on i reckon just looked about and your right about stock levels zero anywhere
