Middle click on bbc website

In news stories etc.. particularly the football gossip page, why doesn't middle click (e.g open link in new tab) work?

Whether using Chromium browser or FF middle click always opens the link within the same window, when on the BBC site.

I'm specifically talking about the links here:

http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/gossip/

But i've found it in other places on the BBC site too. Drives me nuts, as i usually click a link while reading a story then go to the new tab once finished.

Doesn't work for me in Chromium 17 or FF 12 in linux - a middle click just opens the link in the same window your viewing. Grrr.

Works in FF9 with no addons :-)

Only wish my netbook had middle click.

Still could be worse, i could be using a tablet
