I’ve been tasked with building a midrange PC with a budget of £600 - £700.
User has advised me he will be buying the Dell 30” monitor, and this is where I just need to confirm some details.

I am aware that the monitor requires two DVI inputs, so that’s not a problem. User is not a fanatic gamer, so just looking for a mid rang card. Can you advise on a midrange card that can cope with the massive resolution of a 30” monitor?

User has also suggested that he wants to hook up his current 20” Samsung as a secondary monitor. He has told me that his current nVidia graphics card is PCI (probably is PCI rather than AGP / PCIe due to the age of the PC).

Will this cause any major headaches if i put both the new ATI card in and the old PCI nVidia card?

I’m looking at sticking the above on a brand new mobo for a Core 2 Duo processor, so any recommendations on a mobo at this point?

Thanks for your time,
Craig

you wont need 2 graphics card if you buy a gpu like the x1950pro as its got dual dvi socket and a extra dvi socket to make a total of 2 dvi ports so itll allow him to use both monitors on the same card :D

I'd make sure it's a 512mb version though running that beast of a monitor! 30"
you dont need 512MB of ram for a 30" monitor.
i would have to question though why is he getting a 30" monitor then putting a measly 20" samsung beside it? is he wanting to see dual-screen in all its glory or is it because selling his sammy aint really worth it?

EDIT: i agree with breamy1990
go with the 1xPCI-E card rather than keeping his old PCI and getting a PCI-E/AGP aswell.
