might be a silly question...

you want to avoid doing that tbh. For input to your amp, you want to get a dock with a line-out and use that.
Anyway, since these are not exactly hi-fi devices, i'd say any old 3.5mm>RCA interconnect will do fine. If you want to be flash you could get a QED Qunex or similar but tbh I don't think you would tell the difference.
 
because by using the headphone out you arnt getting the proper line out level, depending how you set the volume will effect the sound coming through your hi-fi, to loud and it will distort etc.

by using a dock and a cable you are transfering the music via line out, the same as say a cd seperate would use to an amp

ah ok. thank you :) will look into buying a dock. is the apple universal dock a good bet? does it come with the cable too do you know?
