I would imagine it would be fairly capable of running those games. :D

I think you talking about ultra quality in doom 3 and quake 4, etc. They need more than 256 Mb, aint sure if you will get away with 320 Mb. Any one with a 8800 GTS 320 tryed this?

the 320mb gts dives in ultra quality settings, but ultra is a complete waste of time.

uh, I used to play in ultra on my 7800gtx fine ? (at 1280x1024)

Yeah, the 8800GTS is infinitely superior. It's way faster than the fastest ATi card currently out, and even cheaper than it to boot.

Agreed, ATi's cards are only worth getting when they get R600 out now which is end March, beginning April. :)

It's strange how the latest issue of Custom PC magazine raves about the x1950 XT (and the 1900 GT for some bizarre reason). It's like they're in some sort of 3-6 month time warp...

custom pc have always been behind. all mags are to a certain extent - 1 month is a long time in the hardware scene dont forget. But yes, they do sometimes make the odd clanger like that one.

One word. No.

WHY pay 160, when for about 30 extra, you can get the 320MB 8800 GTS? it would be silly.

If you want to get a CHEAP card, get the X1950 Pro. Even that choice I would question, but if you can get it for 110 or something, it is worth it. I would question it though, and say and go with the 8800 series, if you wish to pay 160 or something.
