recently migrated from exchange 2000 to 2003, which all seemed to work ok. Yesterday turned of exchange 2000 box and this morning lost of problems :(

Lots of users using Office 2000, Outlook will just hang when it loads, only way i found to fix this is to wipe their entire profile and log them back in from scratch pointing them to the new exchange box and then works fine, any ideas ?

Also distribution lists don't work. It either times out or says the following:

Code:
The message could not be delivered because the recipient's destination email system is unknown or invalid. Please check the address and try again, or contact your system administrator to verify connectivity to the email system of the recipient.

However when i create a brand new distribution list, works fine.

Any ideas ?

Thanks

Do a google search for the legacydn change, im sure we had to do this when switching from 2000 > 2003

also add a dns alias (CNAME record) in your zone that redirects the name of the old server to the 2003 box, outlook might have been able to read the mailbox from the new server but if the profile on the client machine was originally configured for the old box it would have connected to that first each time then looked up which mail store the mailbox was actually located in

lastly on the client machines theres an NK2 file that can cause issues with cached X400 addresses, under %USERNAME%\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook. removing this may help but test it first to see if it solves the issue as users find it annoying (removes the entries from the autosuggest when typing in the TO.. box)

thanks for the reply.

We deleted the app. data outlook folder and that still didn't fix it.

Will look at DNS though. Going to switch on the old exchange 2000 server now and see if that fixes all the problems, as thta may also narrow down the issue.

Did you follow the MS guide to a swing migration? Hence, did you move (replicate) all the bits and bobs from the old server like OAB generation? Did the replications complete before you took down the Ex2000 box?
