Migrating simple file storage HDDs

This is most likely as dumb as it sounds, but when talking about 4TB of data I prefer to be sure:

I've currently got 4TB worth of disks in my NAS (HP Microserver) running XBMCBuntu. I've decided that I don't want it to run XBMC (/Kodi) anymore, and I've also had a problem shutting the system down, so I'll be removing the GPU and re-installing Ubuntu Server without a graphical interface.

Other than the obvious "Take the file storage HDDs out so you can't accidentally delete them" and "Take a backup", is there anything special I need to do when adding the HDDs again, or can I simply plug them back in and mount them, then start using them?

Both contain a single EXT4 partition on GPT partitions, I believe, and contain only files (from a Samba share)

Other than what you've mentioned sounds about right. You should be able to mount them back up and continue using with no problems.

Always make backups though (even though you know to it has to be repeated always when talking about potential data loss)

These disks already are my backups, so I'll have the primary copy if something does go wrong (although I'm always nervy risking having just one copy, even temporarily) - I'll double-backup my personal files though, the media stuff I'd get over

Thanks :)
