I have budget of about £250 that I could possibly stretch to £300 to spend on cpu and mobo. I use my pc mainly for work (microsoft office) and some casual gaming.
what is the best setup I could get that would allow me future upgrades and fulfil my requirements?
waiting for your help guys.
thanks

or get the oem cpu and be in budget

YOUR BASKET
1 x Intel Core i5-3570K 3.40GHz (Ivybridge) Socket LGA1155 Processor (77W) - OEM £167.99
1 x Gigabyte Z77-D3H Intel Z77 (Socket 1155) DDR3 Motherboard £82.99
1 x GeIL Dragon 8GB (2x4GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C11 1600MHz Dual Channel Kit (GD38GB1600C11DC) £33.59
Total : £295.97 (includes shipping : £9.50).

the oem cpu has 1 year warranty vs 3 years, and doesnt come with a stock heatsink
although i assume that you already have a heatsink which is compatible with lga1155?
the cpu is one of the least likely components to fail so i think its a risk worth taking to save 12 quid. others may disagree though

tamzzy's right, the CPU is one of the least likely 'to go'. Though i think that £12 buys you piece of mind. And a nice little paper weight (stock cooler). :)

id also look at his current psu, as he doesnt mention what he has already. if he casually games he may also need to think about upgrading his PSU and quite possibly the graphics card. If not, the 3570k system is well worth spending £12 over on :)

psu: corsair vx550W
gpu: asus 4890
heatsink: arctic cooling freezer

I forgot that I have 2x 2gb ddr3 corsair xms3 unwatend gift. do you think we could spend memory money on better cpu or mobo?

the cpu is the best there is for the price, unless you're willing to go to 260 quid for the cpu (3770k), and even then you probably wont notice the difference
do you ever intend to sli (dual nvidia gpu) if not, then the d3h is just fine as it is, not worth the upgrade (extra 30 quid)
is 4gb ram enough for you? imo 8gb is better, can sell your xms3 on fleabay to recoup some of the outlay (or use it as this year's christmas present for someone else...lol)
which model freezer is it? (should be fine nonetheless) but make sure you can find the mounting bracket for lga 1155, else you wont be able to use it for your new mobo/cpu

you're right tamzzy. next cpu is quite expensive. definitely need 8gb ram. i just sell xms memory. won't be upgrading to sli/crossfire. i have freezer 7 rev 2.
is any overclocking possible on d3h?

then stick with the d3h if you're never goin to sli, yes u can oc the cpu on the d3h. its a z77 board.
the freezer7 r2 should be fine as long as you can find the mounting bracket

i would recommend the true spirit 120, but me and honosuseri have been recommending it so much its out of stock ;p
for the same price, you can get the gelid tranquillo, but its not as good a performer as the true spirit 120, still decent, but not as good
or the matterhorn pure, slightly more expensive, about the same performance as the true spirit 120

can't find any spare bracket at all :)
thanks for help. i will order everything today. could anyone send a link to a thread about oc ivybridge?
