Migrating to Zen, last minute comments?

I've just put in a request for a MAC code from our current ISP (Freedom to Surf 1mbps Pure IP), to migrate over to Zen ADSL Home 2mpbs - it's £5 cheaper for double the speed, and you get 8 IPs as standard!

Is there any catches that I may have missed? Like the saying if somethings too good to be true it probably isn't?

Thanks, null :)

Migrated from Plusnuts 2mb to Zen 2mb on the 8th Feb. Breath of fresh air now. I was gobsmacked at my browsing speeds. I'm still adapting to the change though and haven't had any probs in this short spell so far.

Good good :D I'm still a little confused, sat here thinking to myself 'how come they charge less but are better' :o

To be fair to f2s, they've been brilliant. Been with them since our exchange was enabled, just over a year ago. Never had any downtime or speed issues.

2Mbit, and don't forget that Zen's prices are ex VAT.

yes sorry bad typo by me, ment 2meg, is it just me? as I thought Zen were a lot more expensive than F2S?

sorry ignore this :) just seen the post above :)

just had a look at the f2s specialits package for 2meg and even that sounds like it doesn't give you that much extra. i'm on the normal 2meg for about £23 and get most of what that package is offering.

Zen aren't a lot more expensive than other ISPs but they certainly do charge a premium. Its a premium I'm happy to (let the company) pay.

Zen 2Mbps is £34.99, just to make it totally clear.
No (major) complaints here, except an odd disconnection issue that I'm not 100% convinced is Zen's fault, but other folks are seeing too.

Had no problems with them. Only been with them for a few months but they are seeming to be as good as Eclipse USED to be so far.

Tolien - I have had similar disconnections from our exchange the last couple of weeks, hasnt affected my surfing, just noticed them in my router logs the other day. I am not sure if its something BT are up to as my brother is on the neighbouring exchange to myself and getting them at similar intervals on Demon.

Not loss of sync, a "crash" of the PPP session. Happens with other folks on totally different RASes, but I'm not sure it isn't the 837 (since it seems to have a combination of a bug and a dodgy modem). Good job I'm ordering an 877 next week :p

Only just noticed the Zen prices don't include VAT lol. Doesn't matter though - it's the same price we currently pay but double speed.

Reason for having f2s specialist is I run all my own servers (email, web, sometimes game too) and I don't think they allow this on the cheaper packages. For the same reason, it is critical I have maximum uptime - which I had with f2s - not a single disconnect in the whole year. Am I right in reading that there are potential problems with Zen?

Yes and no. You'll probably find it's 99%.
They seem to be getting hit with the load balancing issue Plusnet had in the past too. Some segments "underloaded", some considerably overloaded.
