When I get home tonight i'm gonna need to use the migration assisstant to transfer stuff from one mac to another. Has anyone had any experience with this?

I don't have a firewire cable so I was either considering going to ****** to buy one (18 quid :/), or doing it over wireless. I actually want to have a play on my new iMac rather than wait all night for it to transfer files, so should I avoid doing it over wireless you reckon? At a guess i'll have to transfer 50/60gb.

60GB over wireless will definitely take all night, maybe even longer. Best option would be firewire/ethernet.

I reinstalled my MacBook a week ago and transferring my documents (20GB) from my Time Machine backup over wireless took well over an hour.

That's on a 802.11N

Hmm... maybe there's something up with my network. I wanted to move 17GB over the network the other day and it said "Approx 6 hours" so I just cancelled it and did it over ethernet instead.

Yeh ended up getting a firewire cable on my way home. £18 is ridiculous though, but unfortunately I couldn't wait for it to be delivered. Now I'm just waiting for my neighbors to get back as they took delivery for my new iMac earlier. I can see it through their window, but can't touch it :(
