I'm just wondering if I can ask for my MAC code while within a 12 month contract?
I know that a MAC code can be valid for 30 days so let's say if I ask AOL for it on the 2nd May (my contract expires on 29th May) can they refuse to give it to me even if I tell them that I won't break the terms of my contract and migrate earlier than the 29th May?
I want to ask for it as early as possible as I want to get everything sorted on the 29th May (or 30th May at the latest) so as to avoid making another payment to AOL on 2nd June.
Has anyone ever had a MAC code off AOL to migrate to another ISP?
I know that they are registered with the voluntary 'Broadband migration - Industry code of practice' but I don't hold out much hope as a few years ago I requested that my payment method be changed from a debit card payment to direct debit but what they did was cancel my debit card method and not use the direct debit details I gave them resulting in me being without internet access until I rang them
I'm still paying by debit card even now as they say that because I originally signed up for the FREE monthly trial back in 2001 then I have no right to change payment method
So what I will have to do once I have migrated is to cancel my debit card via my bank just in case further payments are taken as I have read some people complaining that AOL have continued to bill them even after migrating to another ISP
I am planning to migrate to Zen by the way.
p.s. if anyone is wondering why I don't ask AOL directly then they obviously haven't tried to ring (so called) customer service based in India
